Smriti Mandhana, raised in a sports-loving family, displayed early signs of cricketing prowess. Her journey from playing cricket in the by lanes of Sangli to becoming one of the world's leading opening batters is a testament to her talent and dedication towards the sport.
Smriti made her debut for Maharashtra in domestic cricket at the age of nine. She quickly progressed through the ranks, representing the state in various age-group tournaments. Her aggressive style and elegant stroke play caught the attention of selectors, leading to her inclusion in the national setup.
Mandhana made her international debut for India in an ODI against Bangladesh in April 2013. Her impactful performances with the bat earned her a reputation as a dynamic and attacking opening batter. She quickly became a vital part of the Indian women's cricket team in both ODIs and T20Is.
Smriti gained international recognition with her exceptional performances in the 2017 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in England. She emerged as one of the tournament's leading run-scorers, displaying a wide array of shots and becoming the first Indian woman to score centuries in both ODIs and T20Is.

In 2025, Smriti Mandhana became the only Indian batter to score hundreds in all three formats in women’s cricket. The left-handed batter also holds the record for scoring the most hundreds in women’s ODIs for India, and the joint-most hundreds in women's international cricket - a feat she brought up during India's victorious 2025 Women's Cricket World Cup campaign. Vice-captain Smriti ended the tournament as India's leading run-getter.
